so, yeah, you know, so many talks about vulnerability of being naked. but nakedness is not when i feel insecure, just unusual maybe. on the other hand facing the facts of life can be truly devastating sometimes and then it takes just about nothing to make your mind collapse. i wish i had a panic room for that. well, i'm kind of building it while life gives me a break.

This image is not a stock and can't be used in any form without my explicit written permission!
Words that come to my mind are fragile, vulnerable, chaotic and beautiful; showing that the title of 'Panic Room' is quite fitting... is she wrapped in to a fetus position in her own panic room or escaping to the panic room of her mind... Or any of the myriad possibilities the image together with the title means to the observer.
What then are the particular things that make this an eye catching piece in my mind, what are the things that I especially like in it?
- I like the blur focusing the vision into the subjects face
- I like the posture of the body, which together with the blur and the creeping black darkness around her makes the body look a bit like it was in a 'swirl'
- I like the left hand grasping the body like kind of talons
- I like the film grain, which to me adds to the 'vulnerability' of the image - it adds emotion
- I like the lightning - or more probably said - use of light and dark areas in the image, which brings out the details in the models body while also covering everything unnecessary
- I like the simplicity and composition of the image
There is however one thing that I think takes away from the impact of the image. Some could say, that it brings more to the image, but my perception is the former. To me, the expression in the face of the model argues against the feeling the rest of the image generates. This becomes evident, if in no other way, then by one covering the face and observing the image with seeing the face and again without.
With the above in mind, I would have liked to see something a bit more in an image of this quality. Something that would make it really pop-out and burn into ones retina. To me this image - overall - is almost there, but not quite. It is like the silver medal winner in the Olympics. And we all know, that we will only remember the winners. What this little missing thing is, I don't know, I just see that it is missing.
So what does this leave us? It leaves us with a captivating, well executed image, but not with an image that rises miles above the normal excellent quality nudes. Beautiful, but not perfect.
